How often should I ask about a dose change if I feel fine but labs are borderline?
My symptoms are well controlled on TRT, but one or more lab values are near the edge of the reference range. I’m unsure whether to bring up adjusting my dose at every follow-up or leave things alone unless I feel different.
Bring the result up at your next scheduled follow-up rather than changing your dose on your own; there is no universal schedule for requesting an adjustment. A value near a reference-range boundary needs context, including when the blood was drawn relative to your dose, the treatment goal, trends over time, and safety markers. If you feel well and your prescriber considers the overall picture appropriate, maintaining the current dose may make more sense than chasing a number. Ask your prescriber when to repeat labs and what specific changes in symptoms or results would prompt reassessment, and contact them sooner if you develop concerning symptoms.
