Got my lab results back and my estradiol is high—what now?
My follow-up labs showed an elevated estradiol level, but I'm not sure if I actually need to worry about it or change anything. What should I be looking at and asking my prescriber?
Estradiol is a natural metabolite of testosterone, and some elevation is completely normal during testosterone replacement therapy since testosterone aromatizes into estrogen. Elevated numbers on a lab report do not automatically mean you need medication changes, especially if you feel great and have no adverse symptoms. When you review your labs with your licensed MD, NP, or PA, ask whether your specific ratio of testosterone to estradiol is within a comfortable range rather than focusing solely on the raw estrogen number. Bringing up any physical or emotional changes you've noticed can help your clinician determine the right personalized path forward.
